Our seed-collecting initiative needs you in order to be a success.

You can help by collecting seeds from your home and other places, buying, and storing them for the GFFJ. Storing seeds can be fun and easy to do. Remember to label your seeds!

The following are some tips on how to store seeds from food (fruit etc):

Gather seeds from food

Wash and dry the seeds using water and a kitchen towel. Allow to dry in the sun for a week.

Store in an airtight container or zip lock bag, and keep in a cool place.

*Please note that these are general tips. User discretion is advised. Users should also check if there are specific conditions needed for their seeds.

Benefits of storing seeds

  • Seeds can adapt over generations and develop a resistance to pests.
  • Low-cost
  • It’s the gift that keeps on giving
  • Seed preservation in case of calamity
